BLOG TOUR & REVIEW - My Date From Hell by Tellulah Darling

Release Date: 10/31/13

Sophie Bloom’s junior year has been a bit of a train wreck. After the world’s greatest kiss re-awakened Sophie’s true identity as Persephone (Goddess of Spring and Savior of Humanity), she fought her dragon-lady guidance counselor to the death, navigated mean girl Bethany’s bitchy troublemaking, and dealt with the betrayal of her backstabbing ex, Kai (sexy Prince of Darkness). You’d think a girl could catch a break.

Yeah, right.

With Zeus stepping things up, it’s vital that Sophie retrieve Persephone’s memories and discover the location of the ritual to stop Zeus and Hades. So when Aphrodite strikes a deal that can unlock Sophie’s pre-mortal past, what choice does the teen goddess have but to accept?

The mission: stop media mogul Hermes from turning Bethany into a global mega-celebrity. The catch? Aphrodite partners Sophie and Kai to work together … and treat this suicide mission as a date. Which could work out for Sophie’s plan to force Kai to admit his feelings for her–if she doesn’t kill him first.

Add to that the fact that BFF Theo’s love life and other BFF Hannah’s actual life are in Sophie’s hands, and suddenly being a teenager—even a godlike one—seems a bit like … well, hell. Whatever happened to dinner and a movie?

The YA romantic comedy/Greek mythology fireworks continue to fly inMy Date From Hell. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book two of this teen fantasy romance series. Breaking up is easy; dating is deadly.

READ REVIEW FOR BOOK 1 FIRST! SCROLL DOWN.

I can't tell you how happy I was that I had My Date From Hell to read after reading My Ex From Hell! I would have had to suffer cliffhanger pains that would have made me cry... maybe. (Hey it could happen.)

So we pick up where we left off and oh my Zeus! I have never hated him as a figure but dude seriously my disdain levels for this Greek god were at a definite high. Hades has always annoyed me but he has also secretly been one of my favorite Greek gods so he wasn't a surprise on my radar with his crazy activities.

What did surprise me was finding out what happened to the backstabbing ex that Sophie was determined to stay perturbed with, but as with all gorgeous and otherworldly beautiful Greek "princes" (also technically a god albeit a son of one) the self control was hard to achieve. After all, together Kai and Sophie were the "key" to saving humanity or their own behinds, whatever the original plan truly was. (Dang, Sophie's memories!)

And oh my no thank you... Bethany was back and unscathed plus bestowed with otherworldly "worship at my gorgeous feet" beauty. I was really digging where Sophie's thoughts of removing her enchanted tattoo the hard way were headed! HEHE!

I carried doubt about Theo or shall I say Prometheus the entire time and felt bad sometimes for thinking of him that way. His possessiveness was annoying yet brutishly attractive as if he needed any help with that. But then enter Festos... and the plot thickens and the dancing begins too LOL!

We get to meet Pierce with a pun of a name, that made me laugh, he goofs up shooting arrows and the dynamic duo (Sophie & Kai) along with Hannah, Festos & Theo take off to see Aphrodite to undo the damage but Aphrodite has plans of her own!

This book is a rollercoaster adventure forlorn with laughter and serious nail biting moments plus swoonidge a plenty as any self respecting Greek tragedy should have. Everything is mixed up and time is a ticking away. Humanity rests in the hands of Sophie Bloom and her swoon worthy date. We get to meet Hermes or Jack in this read tooand travel to London and Greece, fun! I have always had a fondness for Greek mythology and this spin is so great I can pretty much assure you I will be on pins and needles waiting for the final installment to The Blooming Goddess Trilogy!

LOVE IT! Totally recommend it a thousand times over!

 Book #1
Sixteen-year-old Sophie Bloom wishes she’d been taught the following:
a) Bad boy’s presence (TrOuBlE) + teen girl’s brain (DraMa) = TrAuMa (Highly unstable and very volatile.)
b) The Genus Greekulum Godissimus is notable for three traits: 1) awesome abilities, 2) grudges, and 3) hook-ups, break-ups, and in-fighting that puts cable to shame.

Prior to the Halloween dance, Sophie figures her worst problems involve adolescent theatrics, bitchy teen yoga girls, and being on probation at her boarding school for mouthy behaviour. Then she meets bad boy Kai and gets the kiss that rocks her world.

Literally.

This breath stealing lip lock reawakens Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. She’s key to saving humanity in the war between the Underworld and Olympus, target numero uno of Hades and Zeus, and totally screwed.

Plus there’s also the little issue that Sophie’s last memory as Persephone was just before someone tried to murder her. Dude seriously I was freaked out by Miss Keeper

Big picture: master her powers, get her memories back, defeat Persephone’s would be assassin, and save the world. Also, sneak into the Underworld to retrieve stolen property, battle the minions of Hades and Zeus, outwit psycho nymphs, slay a dragon, rescue a classmate, keep from getting her butt expelled from the one place designed to keep her safe and stop kissing Kai, Prince of the Underworld.

My Ex From Hell is a YA romantic comedy/Greek mythology smackdown. Love meets comedy with a whole lot of sass in book one of this teen fantasy romance series. Compared to Kai and Sophie, Romeo and Juliet had it easy.

OMG! Seriously, I am in love with this series!

It's a breath of YA fresh air and so fun to read. I adore Sophie and her attitude, she's smart and considerate yet stern and determined. She is quirky and surprisingly her thoughts are kinda violent so she's a "bad A" too not to mention her, Hannah and the adorable Theo are hilarious!

The humor infused throughout the unraveling of everything Sophie has ever known is a really great buffer that seems to keep her grounded and rolling with the punches. Gives new meaning to "comic relief" for me.

Sophie is dealing with so much crap but never loses her snarky edge and I really like that! Bethany is even a great character all yoga "bitchy" as stated in the blurb. Cassandra is a curious character and I thought she was cool too.. It has a fabulous cast and I love Hannah and Theo. Then enter the gorgeous Kai, son of Hades and wow. It's a really great story now, ha ha, good plot, good pace and build up too.

I was never bored and got lots of looks from the fam about my laughing... alot. I adore Tellulah Darling's quick witted writing style. I am so into the series after reading the first book! I love Sophie's abilities and the whole mystery of her Persephone self and  all. The details paint a picture and put you right there with Sophie the entire way, Dragons Labyrinths and Nymphs! It's a plethora of Greek Mythology at is most respectfully funny!

Kai was my favorite character for obvious and not so obvious reasons. He had a depth to him that I felt like we didn't see in the beginning of the story. Not to mention he is the swoon worthy being in this story! And can I just say that Bethany made me "Like, gag on a spoon." just sayin'.

I love Greek Mythology and this is a great spin on it completely unique I think and I LOVE IT!!

I will definitely re-read this series and wait on pins and needles for the final book in the Trilogy. I am definitely buying the books so my teenagers can read them too they're just that good!

I highly recommend it and give it ten oh wait no, five stars!
