BLOG TOUR - Declaration by Rachael Wade

Title: Declaration
Series: Preservation Series Book 3
Author: Rachael Wade
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Book 3
Featuring characters from Love and Relativity.

Carter Montgomery spent most of his life blending in, and he liked it that way. It was always better to be seen, not heard. And while a theatric streak and friendly demeanor might have fooled most people, he knew the truth—he was the shy one. The quiet kid most people forgot about. Some might have considered that a bad thing, but those people all wanted to be in the spotlight.

The only place Carter didn’t mind attention was on stage, with The Hellions. Once content in his comfort zone in Seattle, Washington, he only knew three things: confrontation was to be avoided, keeping the peace was priority, and the moment he lost Kate Parker to Professor Ryan Campbell, he had no clue what to do with his life. Playing gigs, working at Pike Place Market, and watching BBC after the love of his life sailed off into the sunset just wasn’t going to cut it anymore.

Desperate to escape his rut, he takes a cue from Kate and chooses a random place to relocate—a small island across the country, where no one knows his name and memories of unrequited love aren’t found at every turn. Just when he thinks he’s found the perfect place to unwind and sink back into the shadows, in bursts Whitney Sinclair, a saucy firecracker who loves life and refuses to settle for second best. Full of contagious energy, she dares him to be brave, convincing him that it might finally be time to tell the world what he wants.

It might be time to make a declaration.

This is carter's story and it does not disappoint. Carter was definitely a stand out character in the series and deserves his say I think so his POV was definitely a welcome one. I was excited to have it on hand immediately available to me LOL, because Reservation left me with a crazy book hangover.

I really didn't think I could love this book as much as I did, boy was I wrong. I love that Carter explains that this isn't a story about Kate trampling his heart in his unrequited love but the story of how he found himself again and the "girl responsible for helping light the way".

And oh my mercy did this read start with a vice grip on my brain!  Yes this book sucked me in too and didn't let up until the end!

The small island of Sanibel is a dead end to most but it holds everything Carter needs to move on from his painful past. Emma doesn't hurt the new situation one bit either. I really love the new characters we meet and character building and plot progression seems to be a strong point of the author. The descriptive nature of the author's writing is almost unparalleled. You are whisked away and along for Carter's journey through his own pain and alot of self discovery. Everyone needs some "me time".

Emma, Whitney and Jackson and the island of drama were an interesting read. I love Carter to pieces and was rooting for him the entire time hoping he could let go of Kate completely, at least the romantic feelings for her. I mean she'd always be his best friend but working through losing her to Ry was necessary for his own sanity I think.

I was all taken in and found this cover of Titanium and yeah I could picture Carter singing it after that!
May I add that I loved the chapter titles in this! "Soggy Crumpets" LOL! Check out spoilers HERE

This is a great story with huge meaning and I think it can be an encouraging read and relatable for alot of people. I am married and can't pretend I know exactly what it's like to be single nowadays but I imagine it's brutal out there. It's a really good example of "no matter what, love still conquers all." Just look at Ryan and Kate as much as Whitney and carter and yeah it may be fiction but sometimes life is better than fiction.

If you're looking for that new series to get into and don't want a read that disappoints I think you should probably give this series a try!
You have nothing to think about if you love NA and Adult Romance this is a really, really good read! Get your copy today! Seriously you won't regret it!

I really have a love for this series and if Rachael Wade gives us more Preservation Series I will most definitely be reading it!

Book 1
 Fear is sabotage’s sweetest weapon.

Kate has no time for meaningless romantic charades, and definitely no time for hot college professors who are full of themselves and smitten with her. Constantly battling eviction notices, tuition she can’t afford, and a sick, dependent mother, the last thing she needs is to be distracted with someone else’s complicated baggage.

When she stumbles into Ryan Campbell’s creative writing class, he is only “Mr. Campbell” to her, until Ryan finds himself captivated by her writing and she is forced to face their mutual attraction. His cocky know-it-all syndrome is enough to send her running in the other direction, and his posse of female admirers and playboy reputation are enough to squander any odds in her favor.

But underneath Ryan’s abrasive facade is something to behold, and she can’t stay away for long. Ryan and Kate must decide who they’re willing to become and fight against their former selves if they want to make things work. That’s if academia, vicious vixens, old skeletons, and their own mastery at self-destruction don’t pummel their efforts first.

This read starts with a bang. It sucks you into the drama immediately. Seriously I could not put it down! I went to work and was reading every free second, it was crazy. I stayed up until I read the last word of the bonus POV at the end. Which was awesome BTW!

Our MC wasn't who I thought it would be. I could have sworn it was going to be Ryan Campbell from the beginning we read his disturbing POV then we move on to our real MC, Kate Parker.

After getting a glimpse of Ryan's past we shoot forward to Kate's life and follow her to her classes at school. She is attending college on her own dime and has serious issues with love. She keeps guys at bay and is set in not getting involved with anyone. She is so super guarded and has every right to be. Her past has shaped her future and she is doing what she can to get by. She foots the bill for her classes and is having financial issues. We see the struggle and I like that she has her friends as willing sounding boards. Carter and Dean are fabulous and quite swoon worthy themselves. We follow her through her steely ways and get to see her vulnerability play out and it's really a great experience to read. We also get to see a softer side to the Professor playboy Mr. Campbell, that was really captivating.

From the get go I really liked Kate and her obvious, take no crap, attitude. I love reading a cynical viewpoint on love and relationships because really we all think we have that figured out. I like that we get back story and our MC has a solid character build as the story continues. Her two best friends are great characters too. I was worried that we would see a crazy love triangle or something but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't happen and want it to be clear. (Since so many of you don't go for the triangle!) Check out my spoilers HERE.

I was stunned silent inn this book and if you read it you will see why, i guess i just wasn't expecting some of the twists and surprises. I loved everything about this read!

The story progressed at a steady pace and it was entirely swoon worthy the whole way through. I really liked the fiery intensity between Kate and Ryan. The banter was great too. I would definitely read this story again and recommend it as a top ten pick for best NA so far this year.

Book 2

A sequel to the Amazon bestselling romance, Preservation, told from Ryan’s point of view.

Old Habits Die Hard.

Ryan Campbell is not only leaving his title of Professor behind to move on to bigger and better things at Simon and Warden Publishing, he’s also become Seattle’s rising literary star. Sitting on the overwhelming cusp of newfound fame, he learns soon enough that being popular has its downside.

Attracted to the buzz surrounding his new career, former lovers begin to creep back into his life, and potential ones emerge with enticing advances. While he works to juggle reserved, yet stressful, wedding plans with Kate and his new public image, he has enough to manage without worrying about Carter and Dean—Kate’s loveable albeit eccentric friends—and their latest shenanigans.

Surrounded by a lifestyle that includes temptation at every turn, Ryan finds himself immersed in a world full of scandal and lies, where his oldest weaknesses thrive and his ghosts return to haunt him. Questioning whether his life with Kate is his best path, he must discover if he’s still capable of being the man he aspired to be when she first became his, or if happily ever after is only an illusion.

Holy mother of wow! I really am totally into this series and boy did this one get chaotic! I was on edge the entire way through! Between missing Kate and dodging exes plus trying to balance the rising fame Ryan has alot on his plate! Add to that wedding plans, writing and making time for sanity plus finishing up his teaching for the remainder of the semester well, that can be one hell of a crazy ride!

I was happy, swooning, mad and downright angry and wanted to smack the bejeezus out of some of these characters including Ry at one point!
(Even though it was technically not his fault but whatever!) View Spoilers HERE

I absolutely love reading Ryan's POV and so much happens in this book, I swear. Roller coaster ride indeed!

Kate even ticked me off this time! But seriously I was invested in this read and I have to say I am LOVING the series! I really need to read Love and Relativity! *sigh*

This story was about a struggle of two people coming together under the most strenuous circumstances. To say the least but man oh man did it reel me in. It was so infuriating so many times but still kept me in the NEED to read on mode.

Love is hard enough when the two parties are treading new territory and have their work cut out for them with each others carefully constructed walls. Self preservation and jealousy ride such a fine line it's crazy. But this book shows such a raw side to love and how hard it can be.

Anyways enough of my ranting! LOL! I really am in love with this series and these characters and the stories too. More like borderline addicted and super happy I have Declaration waiting in the wings to read!

Do I recommend this book? Umm, heck yeah! Oh did I mention my out loud "no"s and my crying? No? Well yeah, that happened!

If you like NA with fiery romance and alot of depth, this is so the read for you, seriously, it doesn't disappoint!
