Book 1 in The Angel Crusades Series by CS Yelle
Britt Anderson went along with everything the doctors said for nearly four years, but she was still dying at eighteen. The cancer had won leaving her without a future, without any options, and without control. No control, except for how she would leave this world. As Britt tries to end her life by going into the frigid waters she realizes her mistake. She struggles to get back to shore, to cry out for help, but her atrophied muscles are useless and the frigid water steals the breath from her chemo-scarred lungs. Despite her father’s attempts to reach her, she flies over the waterfall.
When Allister Parks finds Britt’s fragile body on the riverbank something calls out to him. Ignoring the warnings of his sister, Allister brings Britt back from the edge of death. The only problem is that an Eternal like Allister isn’t allowed to touch those who have already passed from this world. It is forbidden; an infraction punishable by death.
As Britt relishes her new cancer-free life and senior year of high school, her very existence threatens Allister’s place in this world. Allister struggles to keep Britt a secret from the Eternal Council and out of the hands of the only Eternal who already knows the truth: the one who stole her guardian angel.

Britt is dying and has given up hope. She's
terminal but has a plan to end her suffering. A canoe ride to an island
with her parents is right on track with her master plan until fate
intervenes and changes everything.
Faced with a formerly impossible
future Britt discovers her health at the touch of a mysterious savior
comes with powers and a curse. Her senior year of high school begins and
the now healthy Britt jumps in full swing.
Things are great and her
curiously strange new acquaintances give little in way of help as she
struggles to figure out what has happened to her.
I really like the
balance between bold and vulnerable in Britt. She is a great MC. There
were also a fair share of twists and turns in this read. I was happy,
shocked, angry and creeped out through the read! A plethora of emotional
involvement and intrigue emanate from the pages of this book! And can you say cry baby! Oh man I lost it ultimately and wanted to curl up and cry at some points. It's just an intense read when you get to the last half. I would so read it again and probably will once book two becomes available!
I fell
hard for this cast of characters and I loved the plot. I seriously was
stunned in the first three chapters! YA is just done right sometimes!
C.S. Yelle definitely had me captivated from the very first page! I
certainly recommend this book to anyone who loves YA and fantasy!
