BLOG TOUR - Inevitable by Lani Woodland

Inevitable by Lani Woodland
(The Yara Silva Trilogy #3)
Publication date: February 11th 2014
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Three years. So much has changed for Yara, yet much is still the same.

Yara has spent the last three years in Brazil, diligently studying with Vovó to develop her Waker abilities and desperately searching for a cure for Brent. Though her powers—and her control over them—have grown, every possible cure for Brent fails. And they’re running out of the only medicine that keeps him alive.

When a letter from the American Wakers recalls Yara and Vovó to California, Yara has to weigh the fading chance of saving Brent against the dangers of placing them all within the grasp of an old enemy. Not only has his power grown, but the barrier between our world and the spirit world is becoming dangerously thin. As the threat to the Wakers increases, Yara doesn’t know if she’ll be strong enough to defeat him.

Her only hope is to put her trust in some unexpected allies and fully embrace her Waker heritage. If she fails, not only could Brent die, but the power of the Wakers could disappear forever.

Book hangovers are really a crazy notion, that is until you read something like The Yara Silva Trilogy in three days! I fell head over heels for the cast of characters and the great imagery and most definitely the story telling. My mind was so smushed by the end of Inevitable and I was twisted and emotionally spent. This trilogy is a great ghostly trio of books that take you on a journey of a girl fighting to get away from, come to terms with and learn to live in her destiny.

Yara Silva is a great MC. She's strong and witty, yet weak and vulnerable with a thickening skin as the trilogy progresses.

I was pleasantly surprised by this final installment and so very happy to have it to read immediately after books 1 and 2!  Especially with the crazy events at the end of book 2!

The race is on to find a cure for Brent and my finger nails suffered from page one! I was captivated and devastated in a rhythmic pace set by Yara's searching for a way to save him and protect those around her. It all gets twisted up and tangled then unravels quickly, making it an intense read to say the least. I am just dumbfounded and beside myself with the outcome of it all. And in no way will I spoil one ounce of how it all ends but I am recommending this trilogy to all YA Paranormal fans out there! IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!!!

5 of 5 stars

Book 1

Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other females in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly.

Book 2

Yara is beginning to understand just how much her life will change now that her Waker abilities have emerged. She has come to terms with the fact that seeing ghosts is part of her life, but she isn’t ready to let being a Waker dictate her choices. All she wants is a ghost-free senior year with her boyfriend, Brent, and her best friend, Cherie. But Yara soon discovers that there are more dark secrets in her school’s history than just the curse she broke. While an angry ghost makes Yara question everything she thought she knew about spirits, she and Brent learn that there are long reaching consequences to last year’s adventures. As new enemies emerge and old ghosts resurface, Yara finds herself in the center of another deadly mystery, and this time she has to contend with the living as well as the dead.

I’ve been an avid reader since elementary school . In sixth grade I began writing stories and recruiting (with force when necessary) my  friends to act them out. I’ve always loved scary stories, and have a hard time enjoying any book without at least a little romance in it.

  1. This sounds like an exciting series and I love it when I can binge read a series and not have to wait after crazy events at the end! >.<
