BLOG TOUR - Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane

Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane
Publication date: March 2014
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken.  She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.  But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up.  While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured.  But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

I like the way this book starts out. Straight forward and to the point. It gives you what's happening now. I loved the bakery aspect of it as well, it made for a meet cute for sure. This is a story about life and love and overcoming fears and just letting go. I think it's a hard thing to grasp when you have been through what our MC, Peyton. From the get go Reed is a mystery and we get to see his layers peel back bit by bit, at the same time we get to see that with Peyton.

I love the other characters too, Quinn, Bret and even Griffin were great additions to this story. I loved the setting for this book. I love Louisiana and I think it makes for a great backdrop for this book. The storyline is great and balanced just right. The progression of it happened at a nice steady pace nothing seemed to drag on or even falter for me to lose interest in the slightest.

I absolutely love the chemistry, "when sparks fly", as they say. It was definitely entertaining. I like that Peyton didn't crumble and that she made Reed work for her attention to begin with. Their first date was really great and as far as I am concerned realistic as it gets.
This was a really great stand alone and the crap they go through? Wow. Both Peyton and Reed have a huge load of baggage and they have to find a way to work through it all. I absolutely loved this book. i laughed alot and cried even more! i am such a sucker for a gritty romance!

I recommend it to any Adult Contemporary Romance fans out there!!!

  2. It does sound like they go through a lot! I really like the sounds of this one and it being a stand-alone is also refreshing. Gritty romances are the best!!
