- REVIEW - Reaping Me Softly by Kate Evangelista

Ever since a near-death-experience on the operating table, seventeen-year-old Arianne Wilson can see dead people. Just as she’s learned to accept her new-found talents, she discovers that the boy she’s had a crush on since freshman year, Niko Clark, is a Reaper.

At last they have something in common, but that doesn’t mean life is getting any easier. All while facing merciless bullying from the most powerful girl in school, Arianne’s world is turned upside down after Niko accidentally reaps the soul of someone she loves. This sends them both into a spiral that threatens to end Arianne’s life. But will Niko break his own Reaper’s code to save her? And what would the consequences be if he did?

There's a great deal of romance that tingles through me in this read and for some reason Niko has me swooning. Ben is awesome but Niko, yes, Team Niko! LOL!

I was highly intrigued and laughed and cried throughout this touching tale. I love the storyline and the plot is beautiful in and of itself. Not to mention the writing is spectacular to say the least.

Arianne is a great character living through a painful existence which she tries daily to make better. She has a horrible bully at school Darla is pure evil in my bok and I hve never seen someone run a school like her! Wow, just wow!

Things progress with Niko and Ari and I love the way it unfolds. The hope she gives him is immeasurable and the amount of feeling he exudes around Ari is staggering, that she can do so much for someone who has been dead inside is awesome.

All of the twists and turns in this story will keep you reading on to know what happens next. There are tender and infuriating moments in this book and the cast of characters is one of the best. I cried like a baby when tragedy struck .

The evil Darla ends up trying to kill Arianne once she stands up for herself and Niko but her own personal angel of death changes everything and then the unthinkable happens and Ari wants nothing to do with him even though he was only doing his job. The pain and anguish in that part were thick in the air around me as I read. It was so sad when she distanced herself from the only person on the planet who made her okay.

I absolutely love how everything unravels after Ben convinces Ari that Carrie would want her happy no matter what. I am so not going to be a spoiler! No Way! You HAVE to read this book! You will not be disappointed! I guarantee it!

Team Niko! *swoon*

When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing. Today, she lives in the Philippines and writes full time.
