What To Read Wednesday #1 - YA & NA

I don't have this problem much anymore because I read on a schedule.
I do know that it can be a problem not knowing what to read next.
I am excited to share some suggestions with you!

This year I have read 91 books so far this year and my reading goal was 114. At the rate I'm going I am considering upping that! But then again I really do need to take some time off reading to continue writing!! Anyhow, there has been both good and not so good in the reading mix. I will feature both YA and NA books in these posts.  One of each!

Both Series and Stand Alone.

I know that after reading great books it gets hard to find that next great read. Maybe you are looking for a series to get into. I will try to help with that too!

Contemporary

I fell in love with this series big time! I loved so much about it!
I was all about paranormal until I began reading contemporary books.
Oh man I have found my genre seriously. I mean I still love my Paranormal Fantasy but I really LOVE me some YA Contemporary & YA Contemporary Romance!

This weeks YA feature is two books by the wonderful Elisa Dane!

The Diamond Girls Series

Ex-Factor & Unbreakable are two really great books!
I was lucky enough to get on the tour and review them right here on the blog!

Here's an excerpt from my reviews

Ex-Factor

"Beautiful, gritty and intense. I have to say this book turned out to be so much more than I even thought it would. This is a very tough story to read but so steeped in reality and the things that so many go through. I am definitely looking forward to reading other books in this series!" - S.V.

 Unbreakable

"This read carried alot of emotion for me. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I was drawn in a hundred thousand percent! The progression of things moved at a steady pace and my excitement was maybe a tad out of control. I was giddy reading this book. Yes you heard me... I think it was all about Reid and his melt your insides to goo drool worthy swoon-tastic abilities that had me mesmerized" - S.V.

Diamond Girls #1

Nevaeh Evan’s life is uprooted after her father’s death, when she moves in with her aunt and cousin, Livvie. Her plan to lay low at her new high school isn’t working. Her friend’s jerky boyfriend keeps asking her out, the guy she likes treats her like garbage, and the thought of tumbling again makes her want to hurl.

So when her aunt pushes her into joining the elite X-FACTOR cheer leading squad, Navaeh goes along with it.

But Nev feels she doesn’t deserve to be happy. Not after what happened the night her father died.

Bodie Scott knows about grief all too well. Critically injured in an alcohol related accident the year before, Bodie struggles with the fact that he’ll never play football again, and he’s so far behind in credits he can’t see straight. That is, until he meets Nev. Haunted by their bloody pasts and wary of a shared future, Nev and Bodie turn to one another for comfort and support, and realize they’re not so alone after all. And when the party scene at school threatens the life of a loved one, the two stop at nothing to keep the past from repeating itself.

Diamond Girls #2

Perception is everything to sixteen-year-old Olivia Brown. With her freakishly hot boyfriend, volunteer work at the local animal shelter, successful beauty channel on YouTube, and well-earned spot on X Factor Cheer's elite level five Diamond Girl team, Livvie's the girl every other girl wants to be. At least, that's the illusion she's aiming for.

But Livvie's seemingly perfect life is anything but. Lying about the bruises her boyfriend gives her, and cowering beneath his raging temper becomes a regular way of life until she unwittingly witnesses her drunken neighbor beating his step-son, the town bad boy, Reid Tate.

For Reid, vulnerability is the enemy. Opening up, and letting people in gives them the power to disappoint. Growing up with a co-dependent mother and an abusive alcoholic father, Reid has endured all the disappointment he can stomach.

But when his pretty, do-good neighbor witnesses his step-dad beat him to within an inch of his life, and not only call the cops, but keeps quiet at school about what she saw, Reid wonders if maybe, just maybe, he's found someone he can finally trust.

I'm a lover of books (YA & Adult romance), chocolate, reality television, and am a proud mother to three All Star cheerleaders. Woot!

I write Contemporary YA romance with cheerleaders. Yep. I write what I know, and it's my hope that my stories will not only take you on a romantic journey that will warm your heart, but that you'll find a new respect and interest in the sport of Cheerleading you may not have had before.

Romantic Suspense

I have read so, so much really great New Adult books!
I absolutely love so may of them so I will have no problem coming up with them.
My only dilemma will be which to feature when!

This Week's NA Feature is a book that I read last year but I don't think word about this author has gotten around nearly enough! She was at UtopYA 2014 this year!
Michele G. Miller blew me away with her first NA Romantic Suspense novel, Last Call!
The Swoon factor is way, way up there!
The subject matter is captivating and it is just an overall really GREAT book!!
It made my Top 10 of 2013 List!

"I love, love, love Savannah Guthry in all of her naïve heartbroken, pieced back together craziness. She is a very well written character and surprisingly given her situation, not at all as wishy washy as I thought she would be. Her best friends slash house mates are great characters too. Candace and Sara are a great balance to this trio of girlfriends. Riley is a great character too and comes off as a friend with a crush that knows better.

Enter the piez de resitance, Gage Taylor and you have a tasty cocktail of great characters with substance.

Gage Taylor is a great looking swoon worthy, cougar attracting, all female jaw dropping gorgeous bartender who is way more than he seems. You don't expect what you get from him. You expect gorgeous player but get tender love in it's place, yet he's witty and has an Australian accent that could make you spontaneously combust. I really like the fact that he is a gentleman and smart and funny." - S.V.

“You are cordially invited…”

Four words that spark the fear of God into any gently bred, single southern woman.

When Savannah Guthry receives an invitation to her cousin’s wedding back home in Charleston, South Carolina, her first thoughts aren’t of flowers and dresses. Instead, she's reminded of the groom: her first love and the reason she ended up at a college 500 miles away from home.

Determined to show up and dazzle not only her ex but her spoiled cousin too, Savannah allows her friends to set her up on a series of dates looking for Mr. Right. Wrapped up in her memories of the past and the drama of the present, Savannah doesn’t recognize a pattern in the seemingly random events that occur around her. There is a dangerous threat looming in the shadows, and if she's not careful, she might lose more than Mr. Right.

**This book is a New Adult Romantic Suspense. It is intended for mature (18+) audiences due to sexual situations and mild language**
